Can I upload my fleet data into Gridcog? What granularity of data can you accept?

Gridcog enables you to upload your fleet data in granular detail, this can be done via our User Interface or uploaded via Excel template for larger fleets. We need data such as your hourly fleet schedule by day/month, how much energy each vehicle uses on route and how large your battery size is onboard the vehicles.

I expect my charger utilisation profile will change in the future, can you support this?

A common modelling problem we see is chargers with increasing utilisation profiles as EV adoption increases. We have full support to allow you to scale your EV utilisation profile into the future. We model on-demand chargers in a probabilistic way to reflect that clients don’t always know when those chargers will be utilised.

How do you ensure your assets and market predictions perform accurately to reality?

We regularly benchmark Gridcog simulations against real assets in the market, we make the results of this benchmarking available in our client documentation and set sensible defaults across the platform informed by this work. Our rich Library includes historical pricing data which is updated daily via API and TSO and DSO tariffs are updated in line with updates from the network operators themselves.

Can you model different commercial arrangements?

Gridcog’s commercial model is highly flexible and configurable. Clients can model commercial arrangements from subsidies, PPAs to merchant models and more. It’s easy to customise which markets or value streams your assets are exposed to and add additional project stakeholders in the commercial model. Clients can also configure which stakeholder their flexible asset is optimising for and assess how this alters revenues and dispatch patterns.

How can you reflect different energy market rules in Gridcog?

Accurately reflecting market rules is imperative. Gridcog includes all of the building blocks and relevant parameters for clients to ensure that local market rules are simulated properly. For ancillary service markets these include, bid rounding, headroom/footroom, activation pricing, energy utilisation, offers accepted and bid intervals (blocks). For wholesale markets these include trading between multiple markets, churn (or virtual trading) and price thresholds required to churn. More parameters exist for capacity and balancing markets as well.
