Meet Pio Pius, our new Business Development Manager in London

I'm excited to welcome Pio to the Gridcog team - joining as our Business Development Manager in the London team!

Pio joins us with a background spanning energy and commercial SaaS, most recently at Aurora Energy Research. He'll be focused on bringing Gridcog to major clients across GB, Ireland and the Nordics.

What were you doing before Gridcog, and what got you into the energy space?

I started my commercial journey as an Account Executive at Thomson Reuters, working on B2B conferences within the energy sector. That was my first proper exposure to the industry - spending every day talking to the people building and financing energy projects. From there I moved to Aurora Energy Research as a Senior Commercial Associate, which took me deeper into both energy and SaaS - selling market analytics and software to investors, developers and utilities. Those two roles have given me a solid understanding of both the energy sector and commercial SaaS. 

What is your role at Gridcog?

I've joined as a Business Development Manager in the London team, focused on bringing Gridcog to major clients across GB, Ireland and the Nordics. In practice, that means building relationships with the developers, investors and utilities shaping those markets, and owning the full sales cycle - from first outreach through to demos and getting new customers live on the platform. 

‍What attracted you to working with Gridcog?

Gridcog's reputation preceded it - everything I had heard about the platform, the team and its capabilities pointed the same way. I wanted to take ownership of my work, get hands-on with the software I represent, and contribute to a growing business rather than watch from the sidelines. Gridcog offered all of that, alongside a product I could stand behind with conviction.

What do you like to do outside of work?

It's all about my wife and kids - days out at the zoo, walks, hikes, anything that gets us out of the house together. Weekends tend to be planned around them, and that's exactly how I like it. When I do get a spare hour, I'm a big sports fan - football first, then cricket and tennis, and I'll happily watch any of the three. I also love my food, so there's plenty of cooking at home too, with mixed reviews from the kids.

What technology could you not live without?

My phone is the obvious one - work, family and everything in between goes through it. Then my watch, which I use for the gym and for checking scores when I can't watch the game. And at home, the rice cooker. An odd pick maybe, but with kids and a busy week, having dinner sort itself out while you get on with everything else counts for a lot.
